Apple Incorporation
ReplyDeleteAs for my dream job, I chose Apple Inc. as a great company to work for. My decision has a number of reasons: company’s policies correspond to my vision of career path; its modernity, flexibility and innovation give its employees a great space to develop their personalities and ideas. Apple has a great organizational culture in place; therefore, it becomes a company you just want to be linked with.
Apple Inc. is a multinational corporation which specializes in production of software, electronics and personal computers. Company’s roots go back to April 1, 1976, when it was established by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. On January 3, 1977 Apple was incorporated and became known as Apple Computer, Inc. On January 9, 2007, the name was changed to Apple Inc. since company had to include a much more diverse product line to the market.
Nowadays Apple Inc. “designs and manufactures mobile communication and media devices, personal computers and portable digital music players. Additionally, it sells a variety of related software, services, peripherals, networking solutions, and third-party digital content and applications. Most known company’s products include iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod, Apple TV and a set of consumer and professional software applications, known as iOS and OS X operating systems, iCloud and numerous accessory, service and support offerings. Apple Inc. sells and delivers digital content and applications through the iTunes Store, AppStore, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store”. As for selling, company uses retail stores throughout the world, online stores and third-party resellers. Apple bases their operating segments primarily on location of their customers, therefore, sells in Americas, Europe, Japan, Greater China, Rest of Asia Pacific and Retail.
As for financial side, Peter Oppenheimer, CFO of Apple Inc. announced at the end of last year that Apple is “pleased to have generated over $41 billion in net income and over $50 billion in operating cash flow in fiscal 2012”. Couple of months ago Mr Oppenheimer also has made a statement with regards to company’s performance in 2013 saying that Apple “generated $9.9 billion in cash flow from operations and returned an additional $7.8 billion in cash to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases during the September quarter, bringing cumulative payments under capital return program to $36 billion”. Fiscal fourth quarter of 2013 caught the launch of the new iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S devices, but they were only available for a total of eleven days in fiscal Quarter 4. Stock exchange is still expecting Apple’s results to increase from initial sales of the company’s new iPhones. Therefore, Apple’s expectations for sales in fiscal Quarter 1 2014 are between $55 billion and $58 billion.
ReplyDeleteCompany’s mission statement was initially summarized by a famous quote from Steve Jobs in 1980: "Man is the creator of change in this world. As such he should be above systems and structures, and not subordinate to them." Throughout the time, Apple Inc. proposed a more extensive mission of its activities: "Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, iLife, iWork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and has recently introduced iPad 2 which is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices." We can observe that the mission statements are highly connected to their products. This gives the impression that product is the main company’s revolution and its main change to bring to the world.
On the other hand, Apple focuses on its consumers as well: "Apple is committed to bringing the best personal computing experience to students, educators, creative professionals and consumers around the world through its innovative hardware, software and Internet offerings." This statement normally ends all press releases published by the company and defines Apple’s main customers.
Apple Inc. is committed to “bringing the best user experience to its customers through its innovative hardware, software and services” and believes in a high-quality buying experience using the most qualified sales people who deliver company’s values and culture in order to “attract and retain customers”. Apple Inc. provides great customer service before, during and after purchase process.
Working at Apple looks like being an amazing experience. Recruitment page on official company website starts with citation: “Amaze yourself. Amaze the world”. Working at Apple has to be an unforgettable experience, whether you are staying for an internship or having a fixed long-term contract with the company. Apple summarizes their job offers in the following way: “A job at Apple is unlike any other you’ve had. You’ll be challenged. You’ll be inspired. And you’ll be proud. Because whatever your job is here, you’ll be part of something big.” Major employment values at Apple are attention to detail, amount of work behind simplicity and creativity “from every corner”.
After carrying out some extensive research for a suitable job position, I decided to apply for internship in London (where I plan to relocate soon) and to gain valuable primary experience at Apple Inc. I have chosen a position called "International Online Marketing Intern" taking into consideration my extensive background in marketing field, knowledge of content management systems and passion for social networks.

Since Quintessentially is a company that perfectly matches my current dream company requirements, I decided to apply for a vacancy. After going to official website, there are some positions listed in different offices and locations. Since I am looking for a position in Geneva, Switzerland, I contacted Quintessentially with the following cover letter and attached my CV.
to: jobs@quintessentially.com
subject: Available lifestyle management positions in Geneva, Switzerland
Dear Quintessentially,
The reason for contacting you today is to find out about any career opportunities in lifestyle management that you might hold in Geneva, Switzerland.
Instead of cover letter, I prefer to tell you my story and motivation to contact your company. I have been working in financial advice industry for 4 years, providing financial solutions and investment advice for my multinational clients in Geneva, Switzerland. While executing my responsibilities, I was extensively travelling throughout the world exploring luxury destinations, airlines, hotel chains and places of high standards. As you may notice from my CV, I have a BA in Media and Communications together with Master in Business Administration; however, I have chosen financial industry at the beginning of my career. At present I find myself in need of taking a break from my current position, since I would prefer to explore some career alternatives and finally do something that fascinates me.
I may be responsible for any of your lifestyle management requirements, from reservations and holiday planning to high-class events organization and making sure any of your most demanding clients are satisfied. My strengths are four written and spoken languages (Russian, English, French and Spanish), great attention to detail and most importantly, great problem-solving skills.
Perhaps there are some customers of yours in Switzerland that need to be taken care of? Geneva is one of the richest multinational cities with a very high demand for luxury lifestyle management.
I attach my CV for your review; however, it might not show in full all my characteristics.
I am looking forward to hearing from you about any opportunities.
Kindest regards,
Margarita Muratikova
